If you see any of the following things happen on your computer or phone, STOP. Do not pay. Do not click. Just call me first for free advice.
No legitimate company (not Microsoft, the IRS, or HP) will ever ask you to pay for a service using gift cards from Target, CVS, or Amazon.
If someone tells you to go to a "Bitcoin ATM" to move your money to "protect" it, they are stealing from you. Once in Bitcoin, it is gone forever.
If a stranger calls and asks you to download "AnyDesk" or "TeamViewer" so they can "see your screen," they are moving into your digital house. Hang up.
If someone says they "accidentally" sent you too much money and asks you to send the difference back via wire transfer, it’s a trick to drain your account.
I would much rather spend five minutes on the phone with you for free than have you come into my shop later because you’ve lost $2,000 to a scammer.
